Linden Park – Renovation

Description

Wiencek + Associates provided an innovative design that transformed the 1960’s exterior by introducing a new vertical glass element in the corner units at the main elevation. The notches at the intersections of the three-wing “Y” were opened up with vertical glass and old purple precast panels were covered with new metal panel systems, totally redefining the building. W+A reconfigured many of the studio apartments to create more reasonably sized one and two bedroom units. The “Y” shaped building plan with a central elevator core allowed W+A to reconfigure and open up the dark and tight elevator lobbies, introducing natural light, and redefining circulation with new open lounge spaces adjacent to new laundry. New amenities were added to include a wellness suite, a salon, a business center, exercise facilities, a movie room, a catering kitchen with family dining room, and a large community room divisible into smaller spaces to meet the varying needs of active seniors.

Linden Park meets Enterprise Green Communities standards for energy efficiency and includes new windows, domestic plumbing, storm water management systems, elevators, and core infrastructure systems that provides highly-efficient central heating and cooling. The community boasts all new apartment interiors with Energy Star appliances and water saving fixtures, plus community gardens and landscaping, laundry facilities, lounges on each floor, substantial new common spaces, and a new security systems with dramatically improved interior and exterior lighting
