It’s been 3 years in the making, but today finally marked the beginning of construction on The Woodlands at Reid Temple, a 252 unit affordable senior housing community in Glenn Dale, MD. The project is a partnership between Reid Temple AME church, Urban Matters and Atlantic Pacific Companies who joined together to create one of the most important projects in the County. As Sr. Pastor Mark Whitlock proclaimed at the beginning of the ceremony, “Today is the day the Lord made…we are standing on hallowed ground that will become a living community for seniors that deserve to live a life of dignity.”
Dignitaries from the State of Maryland, Prince George’s County, the community of Glenn Dale, along with over a hundred Reid Temple AME church members, the development team and all of those who eagerly attended to celebrate the groundbreaking occasion were delighted to hear from retired Sr. Pastor Lee P. Washington. Dr. Washington related stories of hearing God reveal his plan to build a community to serve seniors. Dr. Washington spent the next four years leading the Reid Temple AME congregation through the process of making the vision come true.
Construction on the project will begin immediately and the grand opening is projected to be in 2021.

The District of Columbia is working hard to reduce homelessness throughout the area and is actively replacing outdated facilities to create an environment that is more efficient, maximizes operations and improves the overall functionality that supports those experiencing homelessness.
This new 85,000SF, 375-bed facility will serve adult men and provide various programs to assist them by providing housing, healthcare, food service and other critical services that address their needs.
We believe this is one of those projects landmark projects that will become a “beacon of hope” for the community and could not be more proud to have been award the honor of designing it.
