Commercial, Historic + Adaptive Reuse

Description

Emblematic of our adaptive reuse work and our ability to turn the forgotten into the desired, Wiencek + Associates Architects + Planners’ Maryland office is a dynamic interplay of patina and polish. The former agricultural canner was vacant for 50 years. The trusses and clerestory windows filter natural dalight throughout the space, while a stained, heated concrete floor provides sustainable radiant warmth. As we strive to do in most of our projects, we provide a variety of textures and subtly blended colors to move your eye through the space and expand the richness of your experience – a glass concierge desk cantilevers from a concrete monolith; the angled interplay of the corridor to the studio is softened by the arc of a mezzanine which creates intimate spaces beneath it as contrast to the vaulted studio.
